ABOUT THE IMMERSION COURSES
WHAT ARE IMMERSIONS?

The immersions are the core offering of the Berkeley Center. They are the exploration of the practical and philosophical aspects of Rosen; whether one is interested in Rosen Movement or Rosen Bodywork, the immersions are the way one can deeply know and experience this work. You can think of them as learning Rosen Method, or you can think of them as an immersive retreat in Rosen Method – they are both!

WHO ARE THE IMMERSIONS FOR?

The immersions are for anyone who feels called to Rosen Method, who wants to get in touch with their body, and who wants to learn a practice for attuned presence and awareness.

WHAT ARE IMMERSION COURSE PREREQUISITES?

Prior experience in Rosen Method is a preferred pre-requisite to attendance in our immersive courses. Participation in a short course online or in person, or private Rosen bodywork sessions or Rosen movement classes, will give prospective students an introductory experience of Rosen Method.

For those who have not yet had an introductory experience with Rosen Method,  please see our listings for short courses, practitioners or movement classes. or you can look for more listings at roseninstitute.net.

For first time applicants, there is a short application form for immersive courses. When your application is received you will be contacted by a member of our teaching staff.

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN AN IMMERSION?

The core of the immersion experience teaches how to:

  • UNDERSTAND the relationship between chronic muscle tension & trauma

  • RELAX muscle tension to restore resilience and confidence

  • ALLOW natural breathing, without effort

  • LISTEN to what the body knows and communicates

  • ENGAGE in a daily practice of heartfelt dialogue

ARE THE IMMERSIONS RELATED TO TRAINING IN ROSEN METHOD MOVEMENT OR BODYWORK?

Yes. For those who do want to train in Rosen Method, they will attend a series of immersions as they work towards certification.

ARE THE IMMERSIONS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TRAIN AS A ROSEN PRACTITIONER FOR THEIR CAREER?

No! Many people attend one, or many, immersions for their own personal growth and development. One does not need to have any intention to train towards certification in order to attend an immersion.

WHAT MIGHT I GET FROM PARTICIPATING IN AN IMMERSION?
  • The space to practice being true to yourself:  to listen to your inner voice and live from that place when it is safe to do so.

  • Awareness about how your experiences have shaped you, and about how you have shaped yourself in your life by other people’s expectations.

  • An easier way of moving through the world.

  • Learning a way to get “out of your head” and into your body to experience its wisdom.

  • A way to connect with your unconscious self that allows you to integrate past experiences and emotions that are showing up as tension in your body.

  • More light heartedness and ease in life – enabling more joy to come through.

  • Better connections with the people you love in your life.

  • An understanding of, and ability to see, anatomical relationships in the body.

  • Ease and pleasure in movement.

  • An experiential way to connect with your unrecognized potential.

WHAT ARE THE FORMATS FOR IMMERSIONS?

Immersions are currently taught in an intensive, half-intensive, or a weekly format.

The intensive format for the bodywork training occurs over 8 days, with 7 of those days for classes. There is one day off in the middle of the intensive for an integration day. In the intensive format, class days are 6 hours long.

Movement intensives are 5 days long. Half intensives are 3 days long.

The weekly class format meets once per week for 10 weeks.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

GET IN TOUCH

Thanks for writing! We will get back to you.

There was such a huge gap between what was going on inside and what I was able to show. This simple, mindful touching of my body in a Rosen way was all that was needed to connect the inner me with the outer world and let me know that I am really OK just as I am. But it is more than just the touch – it is how the touch comes through the practitioner’s soul into her or his hands to find what is inside my body. It is the depth and breadth of the person touching which gives space for my own full and unique humanity. Through RM we learn to take this space and find our essential selves, as clients and as practitioners.
